Appropriate Visa Needed by Foreigners to Invest and Work in Vietnam

 

For investors, foreign employees on entering or residing in Vietnam, suitable visas are required corresponding with purpose of entry.

The violations of the law on entry for improper purposes may be subject to an administrative fine of between VND 15,000,000 and VND 25,000,000 and the violator may be deported from Vietnam, which will be detrimental to investors, employees and guarantors during their operation.

Therefore, investors and foreign employees need to understand the visa requirements upon entry in Vietnam, visas issued to foreign investors and employees include the following types:

- DT visa: is granted to foreign investors who invest in Vietnam and valid for 02-05 years.

- LD visa: is granted to foreign employees working in Vietnam through a labor contract, with a term depending on the labor contract, but not exceeding 02 years.

Depending on the purpose of entry of the foreigner, the competent agency will issue the appropriate visa. Each type of visa will need different legal documents, requiring investors and employees to have appropriate legal documents such as valid passport, investment registration certificate, enterprise registration certificate, labor contract.
